As an autistic, I tend to stim. After spending my life being ridiculed and told to control my behavior, I have chosen to use my body's natural tendencies to move to create art. This piece was created from stimming to dandelions in front of my rainbow-painted gate for Pride Month.
I am Ada Weyland, an autistic Portland, Oregon based photographer who loves to experiment with color, stark contrasts, and the beauty and emotion of movement. I also enjoy exploring what being autistic means artistically and expressing it in my photography, for example using stimming to create movement. But most of all I seek out new ways of seeing, especially drawn to the beauty of imperfections.
